Richard Pitt

Gary Smith

Richard's broadcasting career was launched in 1997, when he was asked to shimmy up a mast to secure an aerial and so enable a local indie station to go on air.

Richard's 2 passions are music and sport. Bristol Uncovered has fulfilled his dream of being able to indulge one and by acting as the match day MC for Bristol Rugby he regularly "broadcasts" to audiences of over 10,000.

Richard's love of new music comes from a lifetime of playing and listening, as his dad ran his own record shop for a time. Richard runs his own business and lives in a leafy yet hectic suburb of North Bristol with his wife Pam and their 3 sons.

Gary Smith has presented and produced a variety of radio programmes including a number of alternative music shows, various magazine programmes and a comedy panel show. Gary used to run a comedy club in Bristol; was once a warm up man for Deal Or No Deal (just the once); is host of various live music events including Ashton Court; he continues to DJ live despite the protests; and was a finalist of the Select Temp Of The Year 1998, an achievement his mother is still very proud of, despite the fact he didn’t win.

Gary is a keen gig goer, enjoys anything to do with science, loves visiting museums, monkeys always make him laugh, he doesn’t believe in the supernatural and he really hates doing DIY.

Richard & Gary are regular hosts at the Ashton Court Festival, the Acoustic Music Festival (and other events at the Folk House community arts & education centre), they attend meetings of the Bristol Music Industry Forum (mostly for the sandwiches), assist at the Bristol end of South West Sound, and can often be seen supporting other events around the city. In 2002 & 2003, Bristol Uncovered was voted Best Radio Programme by readers of Venue Magazine.

At very reasonable rates, you can also hire Richard and/or Gary as DJs and/or hosts for your gig and/or event. They play an eclectic mélange of new and classic alternative & indie, with some 60's garage, alt-country, & the odd obscure track to surprise you.
